Introducing the ethOS App Store!

Today, we are releasing our initial list of apps that will launch on the ethOS App Store on the dGEN1. With most decentralized applications (dapps) launched on desktop-only, a large part of the onchain ecosystem is unavailable to mobile users. However, worldwide, mobile devices are vastly more abundant than desktop. We are proud to be the first to support this market on a crypto-native device.

What is the ethOS App Store?

The ethOS App Store will contain apps, both traditional and onchain, from all categories. Most importantly, the ethOS App Store will feature native onchain applications that have largely been inaccessible to users due to iOS App Store and Google App Store policies. Onchain games, social dapps, and DeFi will all have a welcome home in the ethOS App Store, and can be installed on the dGEN1. With system level support for onchain transactions, new experiences are coming to mobile apps on ethOS.

Calling all devs

The ethOS App store is beginning with a manual review process by the Freedom Factory team. However, it is our goal to decentralize the ethOS App Store in the future. Building applications that can run on ethOS should be permissionless.

How to integrate my app?

The most efficient way to use Dapps on ethOS is to natively integrate our system wallet. This ensures your users can sign transactions WITHIN YOUR APP. The days of app-switching or in-app browsers is over. To do this, you can visit our wallet integration documentation here: https://docs.freedomfactory.io/.

Alternatively, if you do not have a native Android app or plans to develop one, please reach out to us via the onboarding form and we can help create a PWA web app wrapper that integrates our wallet. We have a super simple process to help you create a custom PWA. :)

When is the release?

The release of our App Store page is a first step in the journey to the ethOS App Store, set to release with the dGEN1 in Spring 2025 with the device.

The on-device ethOS App Store will have full update capabilities and a developer portal.
